Overview

Art Fund has helped museums buy great works of art since 1903. They support museums and galleries in a number of ways: by giving grants they help them do more - from buying works of art and sharing them across the UK, to providing funding and opportunities for curators. They run public appeals when a particular work of art is under threat. Altogether they are vitally involved into promoting hundreds of UK museums, exhibitions and galleries.

Fast facts

Together with Entropy, we launched the UK’s most comprehensive exhibition and museum listings app. It is built for 8 platforms to help you discover over 700 world-class exhibitions, museums and stunning country homes near you.

Behind the curtain

The second most visited city in the world

2017 was a record year for inbound tourism to the UK – with 39.9m visits. Next year, it is predicted that will reach 41.7m. London, the most popular destination (20m visits) is a real treat for museum lovers and museums are a popular destination among London’s many attractions.  There are hundreds to choose from, including the British Museum, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum.

Our client, the Art Fund came up with the idea of a mobile app, which would guide you through them all. They hired Entropy – London’s leading Ruby on Rails and mobile development agency.

Hey, I need an extra pair of code-writing hands

Entropy has developed solutions for some of the biggest brands in the world. Now their job was to build digital channels to take Art Fund’s mission to the very next level.

That is exactly how we have met Eddie Vassallo. He is Entropy CEO and a couple of years ago he went to Poland to meet with potential partners to help him with the Art Guide mobile app. He needed a creative and technical development team outside of the UK.

After meeting with Eddie and his team, we were impressed with their capabilities and portfolio. He had a lengthy selection process, but eventually, United Ideas came out on top.

Over 700 UK’s museums and galleries in your mobile device

Together with Entropy, we launched the UK’s most comprehensive exhibition and museum listings app. The apps allow you to discover over 700 museums and galleries plus all the best exhibitions across the UK.

You can create a wishlist and set calendar reminders and recommend your favorites. It’s fully customized for iOS (iPhone, iPad & Apple Watch), Android (phone & tablets), Windows (phones, tablets & PCs).

Partnership instead of outsourcing. Does it sound familiar?

Yes, it is our old slogan, back in the days when a word “outsourcing” wasn’t passé and landed in your SPAM folder instantly. It was also about a time when Eddie was looking for a software development firm, out of UK to help him land a new client.

We worked with Entropy for a couple of years as technical support. During these years they asked us to help them deliver many solutions for their clients. When they had a business development opportunity, we helped them with pitching, creating demos and background information to win accounts. We assisted with a number of new application projects and created mobile applications and some web development projects.

Don't just take our word for it

“We worked with United Ideas for several years as a development partner to help deliver many solutions for our clients. Their team delivered creative and high-quality solutions for clients rapidly and on time. We were updated regularly on the progress of any active projects. Their team was extremely responsive. Their code quality was exceptional, and there were minimal bug issues and rewrites needed. I was impressed with United Ideas’ quality of work and communication. We plan on working with them in the future as well.”
